The linear run

Trench Grating: One Continuous Line, Cut to Your Run Lengths

A trench grating run is a band of open steel grating laid continuously over a linear drain — panels produced in mill lengths, then cut to the exact straights, corners and outlets your layout needs. Some specifiers call the same product a linear floor grille; the duty is identical: let storm water in, keep wheels and feet out of the channel. Every run is sized in three moves — load class first, then bar spec and finish, then the cutting schedule.

EN 124 class Where the run sits Typical grating spec
A15Pedestrian zones, cycle ways, landscaped strips20×3 to 25×3 mm bearing bars at 40 / 60 mm centers
B125Car parks, private driveways, footways25×3 to 32×5 mm bearing bars at 30 / 40 mm centers
C250Kerbside lanes, delivery yards, commercial aprons40×5 to 50×5 mm bearing bars at 30 / 40 mm centers
D400Carriageways, road crossings, dock aprons50×5 up to 100×8 mm bearing bars at 30 mm centers, banded ends

Class locations are referenced to EN 124 — a public standard for gully tops and covers in vehicle-pedestrian areas. Panels are produced to your project loads; the confirmed bar schedule and load tables come with your quote.

Not sure which class your run needs? Send your trench layout — we will spec it inside the 24-hour quote.

Continuous-band production

From Mill-Length Panels to a Finished Trench Run

bearing bars span the trench cross bars tie the run together

1 · Panels in mill lengths

Bearing bars and cross bars are electro-forged into single panels — the welded steel grating process — or press-locked for close-mesh strips. One solid band of steel, no joints that can loosen.

cut lines and banded panel ends

2 · Cut to run lengths, banded

The band is cut to your run schedule — straights, corner notches and outlet openings per drawing. Cut ends are banded flat so every panel edge that meets a channel wall keeps its strength.

3 · Finish, inspect, pack

Carbon steel runs go out black or hot-dip galvanized to ASTM A123 / ISO 1461 — typically 2–3 days at our partner plant, already counted inside your production window. Five-stage QC, then export-standard packing.

Why this trench grating line

Built for Real Sites, Not Catalog Pages

High-flow, self-clearing open area

The open mesh is the drain: storm water enters along the whole run instead of pooling at a single grate. Bar spacing of 30 / 40 / 60 mm is chosen with your debris load in mind, so the run keeps taking water year after year.

Truck wheels, not just rain

Bearing bars from 20×3 mm up to 100×8 mm take everything from foot traffic to D400 carriageway duty. Runs crossing traffic lanes get banded ends and closer centers — sized to the wheel load, confirmed in your quote.

Any length, made to spec

Factory-direct from Dengtai with no middlemen: send a layout or a sketch and the run is cut to it — wholesale quantities or a small trial section. Mill test certificate with every order.

Applications

Where Linear Trench Grating Runs Work

Anywhere water crosses a paved surface in a line rather than a point — that is a trench grating run. Four duties cover most projects:

Yards & forecourts

Long perimeter runs collecting storm water across hardstanding before it reaches a stormwater grid.

Kerbside & crossings

C250 / D400-duty runs at road edges and crossing points — banded edges sized to truck wheels. See also driveway drain grates.

Plants & washdown bays

SS304 / SS316 runs that shrug off washdown chemistry and spills — the stainless side of metal drain grating.

Plazas & podium decks

Pedestrian strips in close-mesh or press-locked formats — narrow openings, comfortable underfoot, neat straight lines.

Materials & test documents

Every heat of Q235B, SS304 or SS316 enters production with its mill test certificate verified at goods-in — the first of our five QC stages. Runs leave with documentation, not promises:

  • Mill test certificate to EN 10204 Type 3.1
  • Factory inspection report with every shipment
  • Declaration of Conformity prepared per order destination

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How fast can I get samples and production of a trench grating run?

Samples ship in 5–7 working days and mass production runs 15–25 working days after drawing confirmation, both including hot-dip galvanizing. Rush production in 10–15 days is possible with a surcharge — ask in your quote.

Is trench grating supplied galvanized?

Carbon steel runs are supplied black or hot-dip galvanized to ASTM A123 / ISO 1461 through a certified partner plant near our mill — galvanizing typically takes 2–3 days and is already counted inside the production window. SS304 and SS316 runs need no coating.

Do you accept small trial orders of trench grating?

Yes — small trial orders are welcome, ideal for a pilot section of a longer run. Pricing is itemized per m² or per ton in your quote, FOB Tianjin as standard; we do not publish a fixed price list.
