Panel format

Full 4×8 Sheets vs Cut-to-Size Panels

A 4×8 sheet measures 4 ft × 8 ft — about 1.22 m × 2.44 m, just under 3 m² of floor. The 1.22 m direction sits comfortably inside our 1.25 m maximum panel width, and 2.44 m is far short of the 6 m maximum length, so every 4x8 steel grating sheet leaves the mill as one solid panel, never seamed from strips. The real decision is what happens next: ship full sheets and trim on site, or have us cut and band finished panels first.

How a 4×8 order runs

From Bare Sheet to Loaded 4×8 Panels

8 ft ≈ 2.44 m 4 ft ≈ 1.22 m bearing bars span the length

1 · One solid sheet

Bearing bars run the 8 ft (2.44 m) direction so each 4x8 steel grating sheet spans your supports in one piece. A 19W4-class sheet — about 30 mm bar centers — carries roughly 40 bearing bars across its 4 ft face.

cut lines from your drawing

2 · Cut & banded

Cut lines come from your drawing, not a stock chart — so panel seams land exactly on your supports, and every saw-cut edge is banded before galvanizing. Send support spacing with the quote request.

flat-stacked sheets steel strapping on export pallet

3 · Packed for export

Because 4×8 panels are flat rectangles of one size, they stack cleanly, steel-strapped on export pallets. The loading plan — sheets per layer, pallet or loose — is calculated per order, and the mill sits about 400 km from Tianjin Port.

Why order 4×8 from the mill

Why Buyers Order 4x8 Steel Grating Panels Factory-Direct

Mill made, not traded

4x8 steel grating panels are formed on our own electro-forging line — bearing bars and cross bars pressure-welded in one pass. One factory, one QC trail, one point of contact for your sheet order.

Any quantity, cut or full

Full 4×8 sheets by the pallet or a handful of repair panels — small trial orders are welcome, and every cut piece comes banded to size from your drawing.

Galvanized to ASTM A123

4×8 sheets go out black or hot-dip galvanized to ASTM A123 / ISO 1461 practice, with coating thickness checked by sampling. Certified & tested — reports on request.

Applications

Where 4×8 Panels Earn Their Keep

The 4×8 format is the workhorse sheet size: wide enough to floor a bay in one piece, compact enough for two people and a crane hook to place.

Platforms & mezzanines

Sheets laid on 4 ft module framing — open mesh floors that shed water and let light through.

Walkways & catwalks

Cut-to-width strips from full sheets, banded edges facing the travel path.

Trench & pit covers

One 4×8 sheet nests several trench covers — cut to run length, banded and galvanized.

Docks & ramp landings

Heavy-bar 4×8 sheets for wheel loads at loading docks, ramps and truck aprons.

Materials & test documents

Every heat of Q235B, SS304 or SS316 enters production with its mill test certificate verified at goods-in — the first of our five QC stages. 4×8 sheets leave with documentation, not promises:

  • Mill test certificate to EN 10204 Type 3.1
  • Factory inspection report with every shipment
  • Declaration of Conformity prepared per order destination

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What size is a 4x8 steel grating panel in metric?

A 4 ft × 8 ft sheet measures about 1.22 m × 2.44 m — just under 3 m² (32 sq ft) of floor per panel. The 1.22 m direction sits inside our 1.25 m maximum panel width, so every 4x8 steel grating sheet is produced as one solid panel, never built up from narrower strips.

Should I order full 4x8 sheets or cut-to-size panels?

Order full sheets when your layout runs on 4 ft modules and you can trim on site; order cut-to-size panels when openings vary — we nest the cuts from full sheets and band every cut edge. Either way, plan panel seams to land on supports and tell us your support spacing in the quote request.

How do 4x8 grating panels ship, and what do they cost?

Panels are stacked flat, steel-strapped on export pallets and shipped worldwide from Tianjin Port, about 400 km from the mill — FOB Tianjin as standard, EXW or CIF negotiable. Container loading is calculated per order and pricing is itemized per m² or per ton in your quote; we do not publish a fixed price list.
