How the quote is built

What an SS Grating Quote Contains, Line by Line

There is no published price list on this page — and that is the honest answer, not a teaser. Stainless steel bar grating is quoted per specification, so the ss grating price you receive is a written document with every cost element visible. This is the structure it follows.

Line item What it covers What drives it on stainless
1 · MaterialSS304 or SS316 flat bars and cross bars, by weightAlloy content — nickel in both grades, plus molybdenum in SS316 — moves with the alloy market
2 · FabricationWelding or press-locking, cutting to size, banding, notchingPanel count, cut complexity and mesh density, not the grade
3 · FinishMill finish as standardThe corrosion resistance is in the alloy, so there is no galvanizing line item on stainless orders
4 · PackingExport steel strapping, pallets, loading planPanel format and destination handling requirements
5 · FOB TianjinDelivery to port, about 400 km from the millSame export path for every grade — EXW or CIF negotiable
6 · DocumentsMTC EN 10204 3.1, inspection report, DoC per destinationIncluded with the order — no fee line, no surcharge

Cost structure comparison

Why Stainless Quotes Differ From Carbon Quotes

A stainless steel grating price and a galvanized carbon price are not the same document with a different total. The line items themselves change — the alloy does the work that the coating does on carbon steel, and that reshapes the whole quote.

What moves the number

Three Things That Move an SS Grating Quote

1 · Grade and alloy content

The material line is the biggest structural difference inside stainless. Nickel sits in both SS304 and SS316; SS316 adds molybdenum for chloride and chemical service, and that addition is what lifts its material line above SS304. Alloy prices move with the market, so both are quoted at the day of the quote.

2 · Steel in the panel

Taller bearing bars and closer centers mean more kilograms per square meter, whatever the grade. This is why the same stainless steel bar grating price request can return different totals for a walkway mesh and a platform floor — the geometry, not the keyword, sets the weight.

3 · Fabrication work

Cutting, banding, notching and tread-end plates are priced by the work each panel needs — identical logic to carbon steel. What never appears on a stainless order is the coating line: mill finish is the standard, so the finish row reads zero work, not a hidden allowance.

Every one of these is a structure, not a figure — the numbers exist only in your written quote.

How we quote stainless

Transparent SS Grating Pricing, by Project

Itemized, never bundled

Material, fabrication, packing and FOB Tianjin arrive as separate lines on every stainless quote. You can see exactly what the alloy costs and what the work costs — and challenge either line.

Factory price, no markups

SS grating panels are formed in our own workshop on in-house lines — the quote comes from the mill that builds the panels, without a trading-company margin stacked on top.

Total cost of ownership

When Stainless Beats Galvanized Carbon Overall

On the quote alone, galvanized carbon comes in with a lighter material line — zinc-coated Q235B simply contains cheaper metal. The stainless steel bar grating price starts to win once the coating has to be earned back: in corrosive duty, carbon steel needs refurbishment rounds that stainless avoids, because its protection cannot be consumed. Where that trade-off lands is project-specific — so we put both structures in your quote instead of preaching one answer.

Food & beverage washdown

Daily washdown chemistry strips coatings over time; SS304 floors and drains hold their surface with no recoat round to budget.

Chemical & chloride plants

Spills and fumes that eat zinc leave SS316 standing — molybdenum earns its line item in the melt, not at the refurbishment budget.

Marine & coastal exposure

Salt air is the classic case where galvanized carbon returns to the budget for renewal and SS316 does not.

Hygienic drainage floors

Channel grates and trench covers that must stay bright and drainable for audits — mill-finish stainless keeps that state as installed.

Material proof included

Because the alloy is the largest line on a stainless quote, it is also the best documented one. Every heat of SS304 or SS316 enters production with its mill test certificate verified at goods-in — the first of our five QC stages — and the paperwork travels with the panels:

  • Mill test certificate to EN 10204 Type 3.1 for the grade quoted
  • Factory inspection report with every shipment
  • No coating report needed — there is no coating line to certify

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is there no online price list for SS grating?

Stainless quotes are built per specification: alloy content, bar sizes and panel geometry change every line item, so a fixed price list would be fiction. Send your specs and a written itemized quote lands within 24 hours — material, fabrication, packing and FOB Tianjin, line by line.

Why do SS316 quotes come in above SS304?

The difference comes from the melt: SS316 adds molybdenum, which is what buys its higher resistance in chloride and chemical service, and that addition is what lifts the material line above SS304. The gap moves with the alloy market, so we quote it as its own line rather than as a fixed multiplier.

Can I trial stainless grating before a full order?

Yes — small trial orders are welcome. Samples ship in 5–7 working days and mass production runs 15–25 working days after drawing confirmation. Stainless panels need no galvanizing cycle, and the production window is quoted the same way so the schedule stays honest.
