Quick answer

The Short Answer

The best metal for grating depends on the environment: Q235B carbon steel is the economical workhorse for dry industrial flooring, SS304 stainless suits food, washdown and most chemical areas, and SS316 stainless handles marine and chloride-heavy exposure. All three are produced here with mill test certificates on request.

Material grades

What Steel Grating Material Grades Does Dengtai Produce?

Three grades cover the entire range. Each enters production with its mill test certificate verified at goods-in, the first of our five QC stages.

Q235B carbon steel

The default grating material — strong, weldable and economical. Normally hot-dip galvanized to ASTM A123 / ISO 1461 for outdoor service. Pick it for industrial flooring, platforms and trench covers.

Q235 steel grating →

SS304 stainless

Corrosion-resistant without coating. The general-purpose stainless for food processing, breweries, washdown areas and most industrial platforms. No galvanizing needed.

SS304 stainless grating →

SS316 stainless

Adds molybdenum for resistance to chlorides. The pick for marine decks, docks, coastal plants and chemical exposure where SS304 would pit.

316 stainless steel grating →

Decision guide

When Should I Pick Q235B, SS304 or SS316?

Ask one question first: what will the grating touch? Dry air, rain and dirt point to galvanized Q235B. Washdown water and food point to SS304. Salt water and chlorides point to SS316. If you are unsure, send the environment with your enquiry — we match the grade, not the other way around.

1

Name the exposure

Indoor, outdoor, coastal, food-grade or chemical. This alone decides the grade family.

2

Coating or no coating

Q235B is hot-dip galvanized (2–3 days, included in the production window); stainless needs no coating.

3

Confirm the grade on the drawing

The steel grating material grade is written on the drawing and on the MTC — SS304/SS316 verified against mill test certificates.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Q235B and stainless steel grating?

Q235B is carbon steel — strong and economical, normally hot-dip galvanized for outdoor service. SS304 and SS316 are stainless: corrosion-resistant without coating, so they suit food, washdown, marine and chemical areas where carbon steel would rust.

Can you supply mill test certificates for the material grade?

Yes. Every heat enters production with its mill test certificate verified at goods-in, and every order ships with an MTC to EN 10204 Type 3.1, a factory inspection report and a Declaration of Conformity per ISO 17050.

What are your sample and production timelines?

Samples ship in 5–7 working days and mass production runs 15–25 working days after drawing confirmation, both including hot-dip galvanizing. Quote within 24 hours.
