Duty × material
Stainless Under Load: Three Ways to Build Heavy Duty Flooring
Heavy duty is a bar-section decision; corrosion is a material decision. This page is where the two meet — full-section SS304 / SS316 panels sized for wheel and pallet loads in corrosive plants. For buyers comparing across flooring types, a heavy duty steel mesh flooring order and a deep-bar stainless panel are different products for different jobs; this page covers the deep-bar version honestly.
| Dimension | Heavy Duty Stainless | Heavy Duty Mild Steel + HDG | Standard Stainless |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grades | SS304 / SS316 | Q235B carbon steel | SS304 / SS316 |
| Bar sections | Toward 100×8 mm — top of our range | Toward 100×8 mm — top of our range | From 20×3 mm pedestrian duty |
| Corrosion approach | Corrosion resistance through the full section — no coating to damage | Hot-dip galvanized skin (ASTM A123 / ISO 1461); wear or impact exposes steel | Full-section resistance, but lighter bars limit load |
| Best service | Chemical bays, food plants with pallet traffic, marine service decks | Outdoor platforms, roads and civil works away from chlorides | Washdown floors and trench covers with foot traffic |
| Construction | Welded or press-locked, both in-house | Welded or press-locked, both in-house | Welded or press-locked, both in-house |
| Documentation | MTC per heat, EN 10204 Type 3.1 | MTC per heat + coating thickness report | MTC per heat, EN 10204 Type 3.1 |

How panels are made
Stainless Heavy Panels, Two Constructions and One Finish
1 · Electro-forged welding
SS304 or SS316 bearing bars and cross bars are assembled, then every intersection is pressure-forged in one pass — a solid panel whose joints cannot work loose under wheel loads.
2 · Press-locking
For dense stainless meshes, cross bars are mechanically pressed into notched bearing bars — no weld heat, so heavy sections stay perfectly flat for rolling loads.
3 · Pickling & passivation
Stainless panels are supplied pickled and passivated so the weld zones carry the same corrosion behavior as the parent bar. Galvanizing is not applied to stainless — it stays our carbon-steel option.
Why specify this way
Why Plants Specify Heavy Duty Stainless Grating
Full specs, sized to your load case
Tell us the span, the traffic and the chemical environment. Factory engineers reply with the bar section, spacing and grade — full specification and drawings on request, not guesswork.
Samples in 5–7 working days
Check the section weight, weld quality and surface finish on your bench before the production run — small trial orders welcome, MOQ kept flexible.
Factory made, cut to your drawings
Every panel is made to order in our own workshop — cut, banded and drilled to your drawings, with free drawing review inside the 24-hour quote.
Applications
Where Heavy Stainless Panels Earn Their Keep
Wherever heavy traffic and corrosive chemistry share the same floor — that is the duty × material intersection this page serves.
Chemical plant bays
Process floors over sumps and bunds where spills attack carbon steel — SS316 sections sized for drum and trolley loads.
Food & beverage processing
Washdown floors with pallet-truck and forklift traffic — SS304 or SS316, open mesh that drains caustic cleaning water.
Marine & coastal service decks
Salt spray and brine around port structures and offshore service areas — SS316 for chloride duty, banding closed against crevices.
Washdown drainage & covers
Heavy stainless covers over effluent channels and interceptor pits — pair this page with our stainless drain grating line.

Materials & test documents
Every heat of SS304 or SS316 enters production with its mill test certificate verified at goods-in — the first of our five QC stages. Heavy stainless panels leave with documentation, not promises:
- Mill test certificate per heat to EN 10204 Type 3.1
- Factory inspection report with every shipment
- Declaration of Conformity prepared per order destination

Standards & compliance
Produced to Recognized Standards — Documents on Request
ANSI / NAAMM MBG 532
Heavy-duty panels produced to the MBG 532 reference practice, with joint inspection on our five-stage QC plan.
Heat-traceable MTC
EN 10204 Type 3.1 certificates follow the heat, so the SS316 in your panels is traceable from ladle to loading.
CE & SGS tested
Certified & tested, reports on request — we show documents you can verify, not a certificate wall.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Which bar section should heavy duty stainless grating have?
State your load case and we size the bar. Heavy duty panels move to the top of our range — bearing bars toward 100×8 mm on 30 or 40 mm centers — and both welded and press-locked construction are available in SS304 and SS316. Send span, load type and traffic in your RFQ and the 24-hour quote includes the recommended section.
SS304 or SS316 for a corrosive plant?
SS304 suits general food, beverage and chemical plant service. SS316 adds molybdenum for chloride resistance, so it is the usual pick for marine decks, brine areas and coastal exposure. Both grades ship with a mill test certificate per heat to EN 10204 Type 3.1.
How fast can heavy duty stainless panels ship?
Samples ship in 5–7 working days and production runs 15–25 working days after drawing confirmation. Quotes are itemized within 24 hours, FOB Tianjin as standard with EXW or CIF negotiable.
