A steel grating frame is the steel surround that turns a cut opening into a finished system: it carries cover loads back to the structure, gives panels a level seat, and keeps edges clean. Three framings cover most openings — here is how they differ.

What a Frame Does for a Grating Panel
1 · Load transfer to the structure
Without a frame, a panel bears on whatever it touches — often just the concrete lip. Frame legs carry wheel and foot loads down to real structure, so the edge of the opening never becomes the weak point.
2 · A level seat for every cover
Cut openings are rarely level. A seating angle puts every panel on a horizontal leg at one constant height — no rocking covers, no rattle under traffic, no step to trip on at the edge.
3 · Covers that stay removable
A framed opening is a maintainable one: panels seat repeatably and lift out for cleaning, cabling and valve work, then drop back onto the same ledge — held down by clips, not welds.
