What Safety Means in a Grating Spec: Four Levers
"Safety grating" is not one product — it is a specification decision with four levers. Surface geometry, opening size, load class and edge detailing each control a different hazard, and every safety variant in our line is one of these levers turned up. How each lever works
Four Geometries Behind a Safer Panel
1 · The tooth
Teeth sheared into the bearing-bar top put many small edges under the sole, so the surface grips even when wet or oily. Plain tops stay smooth — chosen where traffic is light and floors stay dry.
2 · The opening
Bar spacing decides what happens at the surface: close mesh keeps heels and small wheels on top, open mesh moves more water and debris through. The zone picks the spacing.
3 · The span
Deeper bearing bars at closer centers carry the same traffic over longer spans, keeping the floor level underfoot. Load tables for your traffic case are provided with your quote.
4 · The edge
A band closes the open bar ends into one clean boundary; nosing marks the leading edge of every tread; toe plates stop items rolling off a platform edge — supplied as companions to match the panels.

What makes a grating a safety grating?
Safety in a grating spec is four levers set together, not one product: surface geometry (serrated or plain bearing-bar tops), opening size (30/40/60 mm welded centers, or 11/11 mm close mesh for heel-proof floors), load class (bearing bars from 20×3 mm to 100×8 mm), and edge detailing such as banding and nosing. Match all four to the zone and the panel is a safety grating.
Do you supply slip-resistance test reports?
No. Safety on this page is surface geometry, not a tested rating — we do not claim slip-test certificates or coefficient values. What arrives with every order is material documentation: a mill test certificate to EN 10204 Type 3.1, the factory inspection report and a Declaration of Conformity — certified and tested, reports on request.
