Construction comparison

Bar Construction in Stainless: Welded or Press-Locked

Stainless bar grating starts with the same bearing-bar and cross-bar anatomy as carbon bar grating — then the grade and the joint decide everything. Both constructions below run in SS304 and SS316 in our own workshop, including the press-locked close mesh that hygiene floors usually require.

How panels are made

From SS Bars to Certified Panels

SS304 / SS316 bars cross bars 20×3 to 100×8 mm

1 · Grade-verified bar stock

SS304 or SS316 flat bars, plain or serrated, from 20×3 mm to 100×8 mm. Every incoming heat is checked against its mill test certificate at goods-in — the first of our five QC stages.

welded joints or pressed lock

2 · Weld or press-lock

Open-mesh panels are resistance-forged in one pass; close-mesh panels go to the press-lock machine for 11 / 11 mm centers with no weld heat — flat, clean joints that trap no soil.

3 · Inspection & documents

Final visual check on every panel, then the paper trail: factory inspection report and mill test certificates (EN 10204 Type 3.1) with every shipment, heat-traceable to your grade.

Why specify stainless bar

Why Buyers Specify Stainless Bar Grating

Rust-resistant by grade, not by coating

Corrosion resistance lives in the SS304 or SS316 itself — there is no zinc layer to scratch off in washdown areas. SS316 is the chloride answer for marine and chemical zones.

Mill cert on every batch

We ship mill test certificates (EN 10204 Type 3.1) with every shipment, so the SS304 / SS316 you specified is the grade in the crate. Certificates can be previewed before you commit.

Any size, made to spec

19W4-style designations or fully custom dimensions, light pedestrian duty to heavy-duty bar sections — cut and banded to your drawings, from small trial orders upward.

Applications

Where Stainless Bar Grating Works

Bar construction carries the load; the stainless grade survives the environment. These are the duty zones where the combination earns its keep.

Food & beverage floors

Hygiene flooring that hoses down daily — press-locked 11 / 11 mm close mesh keeps small items on the surface.

Chemical & washdown areas

Spill-through open mesh around process lines; SS316 where cleaning chemicals and chlorides attack coatings.

Marine & coastal platforms

SS316 bar grating for chloride-heavy salt air — access platforms, gangways and dock drainage.

Stainless drainage & trench

Corrosion-resistant trench covers over floor drains — close mesh keeps heels safe while liquids pass through.

Mill Test Certificates (EN 10204 3.1)

Stainless orders include mill test certificates (EN 10204 Type 3.1) with every shipment — heat numbers on the certificate match the grade in the panels. Panels leave with documentation, not promises:

  • MTC to EN 10204 Type 3.1 for SS304 / SS316 heats
  • Factory inspection report with every shipment
  • Declaration of Conformity prepared per order destination

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How are mill test certificates issued for stainless bar grating?

Stainless bar grating orders include mill test certificates (EN 10204 Type 3.1) with every shipment — each certificate traces the heat number and the SS304 or SS316 grade you ordered. Material certificates can be previewed before your order ships.

SS304 or SS316 — which grade should I choose?

SS304 covers general corrosion duty: food plants, indoor washdown areas and most industrial floors. SS316 adds molybdenum for chloride environments — marine, coastal and chemical processing. Both grades run in our stainless line, so the choice follows your environment, not our stock list.

Can I order close-mesh stainless bar grating and small trial quantities?

Yes. Press-locked close mesh down to 11/11 mm is made in-house for hygiene and heel-proof floors, and small trial orders are welcome. Samples ship in 5–7 working days; production runs 15–25 working days after drawing confirmation.
