Capability checklist
How to Evaluate Heavy Duty Steel Grating Manufacturers
Heavy duty grating is bought on trust: wheels, loads and people stand on the panels for years. Before you pay any deposit, run the same six checks we would run on ourselves — then read how this factory answers each one.
| Checklist item | What to ask any maker | How Dengtai answers |
|---|---|---|
| 1 · Forming process for wheel loads | How are panels formed, and can the joints work loose under repeated wheel impact? | Electro-forging fuses every bearing-bar / cross-bar intersection under pressure in one pass — a single solid panel. Close-mesh panels run on our press-locking machine. Both processes in-house. |
| 2 · Bar range toward 100×8 mm | What is the top of the bearing-bar range, and how close can the centers go? | Bearing bars from 20×3 mm up to 100×8 mm, plain or serrated, at 30 / 40 / 60 mm centers. Heavy duty means bigger bars and closer centers — not a thicker coat of paint. |
| 3 · Load-calc support with the quote | Do span and deflection checks arrive with the quote, or only after you order? | Send clear spans, wheel or uniform loads — the panel recommendation and load check come back inside the 24-hour quote. Full load tables are provided with your quote, not held back. |
| 4 · Material traceability | Will you see mill test certificates by heat number before you pay? | MTC to EN 10204 Type 3.1 for Q235B, SS304 and SS316, verified at goods-in — the first of our five QC stages — and reissued with every shipment. |
| 5 · Weld inspection inside QC | Where does weld inspection sit in the quality plan, and who signs it off? | Weld points are 100% visually inspected plus sampled on every batch, with reference to ANSI/NAAMM MBG 531 practice. A factory inspection report travels with the goods. |
| 6 · Audit access | Can I walk the workshop before the first order? | Factory audits are welcome — walk the lines, meet the QC desk, review files on demand. A maker who refuses an audit is telling you something. |
Six yes answers is a supplier worth a trial order. Send your loads and drawings — we will answer all six in writing inside the 24-hour quote.
Heavy duty basics
What Actually Changes in Heavy Duty Panels
1 · The bar section grows
Load capacity lives in the bearing bar. Ask a maker where their range tops out — ours runs from 20×3 mm pedestrian stock up to 100×8 mm wheel-duty bars, plain or serrated.
2 · The centers close up
Closer bearing-bar centers share point loads across more steel. Our spacing runs at 30 / 40 / 60 mm centers — the 30 mm option is the one to specify under forklift and truck wheels.
3 · The edges get banded
Heavy duty panels are cut and banded to your drawings so no raw bar end carries a wheel load. Banding, notching and nosing are done in-house before galvanizing.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I verify a heavy duty grating manufacturer before ordering?
Ask for the things a real maker can produce quickly: a factory audit date, mill test certificates to EN 10204 Type 3.1 for your material, and weld inspection inside the QC plan. We accept factory audits and send the MTC, a DoC per destination and a factory inspection report with every order.
What lead times should heavy duty steel grating manufacturers quote?
A maker with in-house forming answers fast: an itemized quote within 24 hours including drawing review, samples in 5–7 working days, and production in 15–25 working days after drawing confirmation with hot-dip galvanizing included. Rush production in 10–15 days is possible with a surcharge.
Do you accept small trial orders of heavy duty grating?
Yes — small trial orders are welcome, and they are the safest way to test a new supplier. Full-container orders are calculated per loading plan, so you only pay for the steel you ship.
