The slot is the only part of the drain the public ever sees — its width decides who can walk over it, what falls in, and how the run is cleaned. This page is the chooser: pick the width band first, then the grade, and the stainless steel slot drain spec follows.

Honest note on narrow slots
A narrow slot buys you a clean paving line and a heel-proof surface, and it screens out most litter — but the grit it lets through settles in the channel and has to be flushed out from the sump and outlet. If solids, swarf or washdown debris enter the drain at all, choose a removable-grating channel instead: every metre opens for shoveling and flushing. We supply both, and the 24-hour quote will say which one we would put on your site. How the run is built
One Stainless Channel Line, Width Set by Use
1 · The slot, set to its width
A closed stainless channel body sits under the paving with only the specified slot open to the surface. Water sheets across and drops in; the closed top carries wheel loads on a steel frame.
2 · Grit settles, water flows on
Whatever the slot lets through drops into sump boxes and the outlet run, not into your pipework. Sumps and outlet positions are cut per drawing, so cleanout points land where your crew can reach them.
3 · Access built into the spec
Narrow-slot runs get lift-out sections at drawn intervals and flushing at the sump; wide-slot and grating runs open wider for shoveling. Maintenance access is part of the layout we quote — not an afterthought.

Every heat of SS304 or SS316 enters production with its mill test certificate verified at goods-in — the first of our five QC stages. Stainless drainage lines leave with documentation, not promises:

SS304 — general drainage duty
The default for indoor drainage, plazas and pool decks: strong, weldable, and resistant to everyday washdown water. Where nothing stronger than rain and mild detergent touches the drain, SS304 is the honest spec.
SS316 — chloride duty
Added molybdenum is what separates SS316: coastal air, de-icing salt, pool chemistry and food-plant washdown all pit lesser grades. Any drain within reach of chlorides should be drawn in SS316 — see the 316 stainless line.
MTC wording, in plain terms
"Mill test certificate to EN 10204 Type 3.1" means the mill that melted the steel documents its chemistry — and we verify it at goods-in. Certified & tested, reports on request; your papers travel with the container.
