Mesh selection
Choosing the Mesh: Welded Grid vs Press-Locked Close Mesh
On outdoor galvanized grid mesh the zinc handles the weather — so the real specification decision is the opening. We form welded grid mesh at 30 / 40 / 60 mm centers and press-locked close mesh at 11 / 11 mm. Here is which mesh earns its place outdoors.
| Mesh geometry | Forming line | Outdoor selection — what it suits | What the zinc adds |
|---|---|---|---|
| 30 mm centers, welded | In-house electro-forging line | The densest welded grid mesh — exterior platform floors, gate and fence infill close to foot traffic, fine debris drops through | Zinc immersion coats every bar and forged joint after welding — no touch-up points |
| 40 mm centers, welded | In-house electro-forging line | The balanced outdoor standard — perimeter fencing, walkway panels, service stairs: solid footing with free drainage | Full hot-dip coverage inside and outside the mesh, including cut edges we band first |
| 60 mm centers, welded | In-house electro-forging line | Maximum openness for water — trench covers, drainage channels and service yards where flow beats footfall | Zinc sheds stormwater and road spray year-round; coating checked by sampling per batch |
| 11 / 11 mm close mesh, press-locked | In-house press-lock machine | Heel-proof public floors — tree pit grilles, plaza paving, facade infill where nothing small may fall through | No weld heat, perfectly flat panels — every surface of the fine grid zinc-coated |
Every format above ships as galvanized grid mesh cut to your sizes — or tell us the traffic and we will pick the opening. Send your drawings — we will spec it inside the 24-hour quote.
How grid mesh is built
From Bare Bars to Galvanized Mesh
1 · Weld the grid
Bearing bars and cross bars are assembled into the open grid, then every intersection is pressure-forged in one pass — a mesh panel with no clips that can loosen outdoors.
2 · Press-lock the close mesh
For heel-proof grid mesh, cross bars are mechanically pressed into notched bearing bars — no heat, so fine mesh panels stay dead flat for tree pits and public floors.
3 · Immerse in zinc
Finished mesh goes to our certified galvanizing partner near the mill for ASTM A123 / ISO 1461 hot-dip galvanizing — typically 2–3 days, already counted inside your production window.
Why galvanized grid mesh
Why Specifiers Choose Galvanized Grid Mesh Outdoors
Rust-resistant by zinc, not paint
Hot-dip galvanizing bonds zinc to the Q235B core, so the coating cannot peel or flake like paint — corrosion-resistant mesh that stays serviceable through rain, snow and salt air.
Long-life mesh for wet sites
Open grid mesh sheds water instead of pooling it, and the zinc layer stands between steel and moisture — the combination buyers specify for trenches, tree pits and washdown yards.
Any size, any grade — small orders welcome
Grid mesh cut and banded to your drawings, factory-direct with no middlemen. Q235B galvanized as standard, SS304 / SS316 mesh on request — and small trial orders are welcome.
Applications
Where Galvanized Grid Mesh Works Outdoors
Weather on one side, traffic on the other — these are the outdoor positions where zinc-coated grid mesh outlasts painted alternatives.
Fence & gate infill
Rigid mesh panels as fence infill and gate inserts — see-through security that never needs repainting.
Trench covers
Open mesh over site drainage — stormwater passes through, debris stays visible, zinc fights the constant moisture.
Tree pit grilles
Press-locked close mesh around street trees — heel-proof, water-permeable, and salt-spray tolerant in winter.
Outdoor mesh flooring
Galvanized grid mesh flooring for exterior walkways and platforms — self-draining, skid-resistant underfoot.

Materials & test documents
Every heat of Q235B enters production with its mill test certificate verified at goods-in — the first of our five QC stages. Galvanized grid mesh leaves with documentation, not promises:
- Mill test certificates (EN 10204 Type 3.1) with every shipment
- Coating thickness sampling referenced to ASTM A123 / ISO 1461
- Factory inspection report and DoC per order destination
Standards & compliance
Produced to Recognized Standards — Documents on Request
ASTM A123 / ISO 1461 HDG
Zinc coating thickness checked by sampling on every galvanized mesh batch before panels are released.
ANSI / NAAMM MBG 531
Grid mesh panels produced to MBG 531 reference practice, with joint inspection on our five-stage QC plan.
CE & SGS tested
Certified & tested, reports on request — we show documents you can verify, not a certificate wall.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Which mesh format should I choose for outdoor grid mesh?
Welded grid mesh at 30, 40 or 60 mm centers covers most outdoor duty — fence infill, trench covers and walkways. Where heels or small debris matter, such as tree pits and public floors, press-locked close mesh at 11 / 11 mm is the safer opening. Send your traffic and load details and we will recommend one inside the quote.
Do galvanized grid mesh orders ship with material certificates?
Yes — you receive mill test certificates (EN 10204 Type 3.1) with every shipment, tracing the Q235B heat used for your panels, plus a factory inspection report and coating thickness sampling referenced to ASTM A123 / ISO 1461.
How long do galvanized grid mesh panels take to produce?
Samples ship in 5–7 working days and production runs 15–25 working days after drawing confirmation. Hot-dip galvanizing at our certified partner near the mill adds 2–3 days, already counted inside the production window.
